Associate Clinical Counselor (LGPC)
About Transit Health
Transit Health is a Maryland-based outpatient mental health practice on a simple mission: bring high-quality, relationship-centered mental health care to people who are too often overlooked — including Medicaid and Medicare members, working families, older adults, and communities where access has historically been thin.
We believe clinicians do their best work when they are supported, not stretched thin. That means manageable caseloads, responsive admin support, modern telehealth tools, real clinical supervision, and a culture that treats counselors as partners — not headcount.
We are growing. If you want to practice well, grow your craft, and be part of building something meaningful in Maryland, we would love to meet you.

Why This Role Matters
This is the role that actually meets people where they are — adults and families navigating anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, life transitions, and the weight of just trying to hold it all together. You will carry a thoughtful, manageable caseload of outpatient clients, most of whom come to us through Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial insurance. You will also have real, consistent access to a Board-Approved Supervisor so your path to full LCPC licensure is supported, not improvised.
What You’ll Do
- Provide individual (and, where appropriate, family or group) outpatient counseling using evidence-based modalities — CBT, person-centered, motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care.
- Complete intake assessments, biopsychosocials, treatment plans, and progress notes in our EHR within our documentation-timeliness standard (≥ 95% on time).
- Coordinate care with primary care providers, psychiatrists, case managers, and — when appropriate — family and community supports.
- Maintain a target caseload that balances clinical quality with sustainability (we won’t overload you).
- Attend weekly individual clinical supervision, monthly group supervision, and ongoing peer consultation.
- Uphold HIPAA, Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists standards, and Transit Health’s clinical and ethical policies.
Who You Are
- Required: Master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Mental Health, or closely related field from a CACREP-accredited program (or equivalent).
- Required: Active Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) credential in Maryland at time of hire — or eligibility to be licensed within 30 days.
- Required: Committed to completing your supervised experience and sitting for the LCPC exam within a reasonable timeline.
- Strong clinical judgment, cultural humility, and genuine warmth with clients across age, culture, faith, and lived experience.
- Comfortable with technology — EHR documentation, telehealth platforms, basic Microsoft 365.
- Organized and self-directed; you manage your calendar, your notes, and your no-shows like a professional.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Medicaid, Medicare, or community mental health populations.
- Bilingual in Spanish, Amharic, French, Yoruba, Igbo, or another language spoken in Maryland.
- Training or interest in trauma-focused CBT, EMDR, grief work, or older-adult mental health.
- Prior experience in outpatient or community-based behavioral health.
